Lady Dragons fall at McDowell

ERIE — McDowell pulled away from Warren’s girls basketball team on Tuesday, winning 67-41 in a non-region game at McDowell Senior High School.

“They are a very big, strong and athletic team,” said Warren coach Lisa LaVan, whose Dragons are 7-6 overall. “We had a few chunks of mental lapses and the game got a little bit away from us. In the fourth quarter, we just ran out of gas.”

Six Trojans scored points in a 17-5 fourth quarter and nine players scored in the game. Jessica Hetz and McKaela Bennett led five Trojans in double figures with 12 points apiece.

Alana Stuart had 5 points in the first quarter, and Warren trailed just 15-13 after one. She led the Dragons with 15 points, Sammie Ruhlman added 5 points and 10 assists, and Alyssa Farr 5 steals. Warren also had nine players score.

McDowell is 11-1 overall.

In the junior varsity game, Emma Roell and Meea Irwin scored 8 points each for Warren in a 34-25 win.
