‘FAQ-3’

Dear Editor, I appreciate the “COVID-19 FAQ 3” recurring series answering questions about COVID-19 and coronavirus. The practical information given by Dr. Keith Price, Michele Welker RN, Beth Anderson RN, and Joe Akif is insightful and concise. The questions and advice are especially helpful as they relate to local concerns during an evolving situation. It is a point of pride for our community to see our local newspaper and hospital medical team working together to provide pertinent health info for the benefit of all. Thank you for a job well done. ‘What we wanted’

Dear Editor, Many people seem to think that we here in the U.S. are the only ones struggling with COVID-19. This is a worldwide problem and every country is dealing with it by “shutting down.” It is apparent that many of us aren’t cut from the same cloth as our parents and grandparents who endured the 1918 pandemic during WWI and then struggled again 20 years later with the Great Depression plus WWII. The country that has been the most successful with dealing with COVID-19 is little South Korea, who from day one, shut down everything. I believe their death count is 40. Of ...

Littering

Dear Editor, I wanted to comment on the litter that goes on in this county. I saw the article in the paper in regard to trash at Jake’s Rocks. I know Don and Kate Reed and I commend them for participating in trying to clean up our county. Ironically, we were up at Jake’s Rocks last Sunday and was appalled at what we saw. Instead of going there via Route 59, we thought we would go via Jake’s Rocks Road. That was a big mistake. That road is not fit to be driven on due to the big holes in it. That area has been timbered and it looks terrible on both sides of the road due ...

‘Devastating’

Dear Editor, “Devastating, worst jobs report ever” is how the media reports unemployment numbers released today. Just what did these morons think would happen after the governors shut down the economy. Now the politicians can see the effects of their ill conceived actions to “protect” society. At least 14.7% of the wage earners in this country are unemployed yet those who made the decision to put them out of work, continue to get paid. The Lemmings followed the narrative allowing the politicians to get away with subjugating society to their wishes. If ruining the country is ...

Perspective

Dear Editor, We need some perspective. My parents were members of the generation that lived through the Great Depression; an economic catastrophe that lasted years, not weeks or months. It bothers me that we are complaining and protesting about having to stay at home when these people truly suffered day after day simply to hold their lives together. At the end of that extended period of economic struggle, members of this generation went to war. Many of them, including two uncles I never had the opportunity to meet, did not return home. I watch the nightly news and see people who ...

Selfishness

Dear Editor, Not only is Covid-19 creating havoc with the health of our nation, but with the fabric of our society. Our medical, first responders, and scientific women and men are giving their body and soul to mitigate the devastation of this world wide epidemic. Yet some people are not willing to accept the seriousness of the virus. Then we have a federal government which has at least tried to manage the needs associated with financial and medical aspects of this virus, only to respond to self-sufficient corporations instead of the least needy who are least able to withstand this ...
