Dear Editor, It’s not only vividly evident, but outrageously disturbing that the impeachment trial of Donald John Trump by the Senate was not an impartial trial, and equally pernicious. Without relevant documents and key witnesses how, may I ask, can any person decide whether or not an individual is, or is not, guilty of an offense? Honesty was lacking and the truth stumbled in the Republican dominated Senate. Where were the “Tall Oaks” such as the late Senator John McCain who opposed Trump on O’Bama Care with a thumb down? How to avoid broken elections

Dear Editor, The national elections started yesterday with the chaotic collapse of the Democratic caucus in Iowa, due to a software failure. As of this writing, Iowa has no results whatsoever to declare. Ironically (and predictably) the problem is due to a desire to get tallies as quickly as possible – with reliability obviously ranking lower. Along with the other recent failures of electronic voting systems, some similar to our own new system here in Warren, this serves as a warning for us all. Dear Editor, This was, as you likely know, part of Benjamin Franklin’s response when he was asked “What kind of a government do we have?” at the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, at which point he answered “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Oh, well. Dear Editor, Finally, common sense has returned to our City Council! Thank you to Christian Zavinski, John Wortman and, of course, Paul Giannini for bringing up revisiting the inane idea of the roundabout. Quite honestly, I was surprised when it was approved last year because of all the opposition to it especially from United Refinery. As far as Nancy Freenock saving “face” with PennDOT, put the issue on the ballot as a referendum and let the voters of the City of Warren decide. I can guarantee it will not pass! Dear editor, One of my favorite things about living in Warren is the ability to travel where I need to go without having to worry about what traffic is going to be like. In my opinion, it’s what aggravates people most about the traffic situation at Penn & Liberty on weekday afternoons. Traffic backups are a situation Warren County residents don’t have to deal with often, so when we encounter one, it’s very noticeable and very frustrating. Can’t ‘fight’ city hall

Dear Editor, Reading the WTO’s article on safe winter travel and sidewalk shoveling within City environs brings me to the differences in how this issue is handled in the Borough of Clarendon. When attending a Clarendon Borough meeting to inquire about enforcing snow shoveling requirements, I was told that the Borough officials would rather “we” act neighborly and simply shovel each other’s walks. “We” try, however, there are more sidewalks, it seems, than there are neighbors.
