His closing act

Dear Editor, Most of our country and the world has had enough of Oval Office Trump, his administration and certain elements of the Republican party. Former Vice-President Joe Biden is elected to be our next president. It’s time for Trump to quit sucking his thumb, throw away his security blanket, grow-up and acknowledge as a “man” that the voters elected Biden to lead our country. A smooth transition to the Presidency is a hallmark of our democracy. Why is it slipping away? We know the answer ... Trump. Fortunately, the Trump charade is a footnote to history as is his ...

Threat to democracy

Dear Editor, I see that a local resident again has been given a large space for commentary in your paper, and that again he has spewed vitriolic, distorted information through his public platform, much of which I responded to in an earlier letter. It would be comical were such things not believed wholeheartedly by the writer and many others, but with President Trump denying the legitimacy of an election process that he readily accepted four years ago, our American democracy faces its greatest threat to a peaceful transfer in power in many years. To the dismay of the people ...

Bad omen for country

Dear Editor: Don’t give up the ship, keep the faith. Most worry is unfounded as long as one stays in motion — having a plan. First of all mistrust the obvious, take a hard look at the least likely and, if losing, do so on your own terms. Application: stolen, U.S. Presidential 2020 election, Donald J. Trump will serve a second term, and, on his terms - the right sides of the law — the courts. He has an outstanding, across-the-country, team of highly skilled, world-reknown attorneys. They operate to the tempo of Trump time upon an architecture of critical path, dealing with ...

Enemies not here at home

Dear Editor, There’s a saying in German: where two are fighting, a third party profits. Presently in the United States Democrats and Republicans are constantly fighting, seeking to demonize the other side for their own advantage. Who is winning? Every enemy of the United States. Who’s losing? We are, the citizens of the United States. Right now President Donald Trump is contesting the results of the 2020 election. He says, without evidence, that he lost because of voter fraud. But the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has called this recent election “the most secure ...

Vote probe a ‘disgrace’

Dear Editor: Republican State Rep. Kathy Rapp of Warren is on the wrong side of history, and more importantly on the wrong side of democracy in supporting ongoing “investigations” into Pennsylvania’s recent election. In doing so, she and her extreme right-wing political colleagues – many of whom ironically won re-election in the very same election they are now questioning – are purposely sowing confusion, casting doubt on our institutions, and fostering the divisiveness that their cult leader, Donald Trump, has spent four years stoking for his own personal ...
