Deacon moving on Dear Editor, I have been assigned to serve in Erie this summer at Our Lady of Peace parish. I greatly enjoyed writing for the Times Observer. The faith series on kayaking, hunting, football, and the saints were a joy to write about the last nine months. Know of my appreciation for those who read these articles. I am also grateful to Times Observer for giving me the opportunity to write. It was a gift to serve at St. Luke and St. Joseph parishes in Warren County with Fr. Rick Tomasone. Stuck with a circle Dear Editor, Kudos to to letter writer Steven A. Sigmund for his well thought out and crafted letter about the rip off roundabout (April 24). His commentary hits the nail that not only I, but probably most citizens in Warren think about this travesty occurring downtown. Prosecute attacks Dear Editor, The Pennsylvania State Corrections Officers Association (PSCOA) is calling for Forest County District Attorney Alyce Busch to prosecute all felony assaults committed by inmates in SCI-Forest. Recently, Busch dropped several felony charges against an inmate who attacked two corrections officers last August. One officer had to go to Kane Hospital and received five stitches for a lacerated lip. He also suffered a forehead contusion. Staying close to home Dear Editor, When I was growing up in Sheffield during the ’50s and ’60s there were two grade (elementary) schools, one on each side of town — Lincoln and Washington. Most of us walked to school and were familiar with the neighborhoods and its residents. If I got in trouble at school, I also got in trouble at home. There was always good-natured banter between the schools as to which had the prettiest girls, the toughest guys and the best athletes. Caring ways Dear Editor, This is a public “thank you” to the Warren Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, to the doctor, nurses, aides, therapist, cleaners, maintenance, office, and kitchen staff. I know that health care facilities get bad comments. I’ve made them myself and yes I heard a number of times, “Get me out of here, I hate this place.” My dear husband was one of them. It can be excused; many are there for long periods of time. My husband has been in the hospital and rehab for over five months. It has not been easy for either of us. And he still has a ...
