Get out of the mud Dear Editor, Many of us are unaware that officials in Congress, the Supreme Court, and the White House are trying to erase our rights to vote freely, to demonstrate in our communities, and to live our lives as we see fit. These and other freedoms disappear if those above have their way. Our democracy of 250 years may be crushed out of existence; what we can do about it becomes more limited as time passes. U.S. double standards Dear Editor, Several ridiculous incidents occurred as we closed in on the 250th July Fourth. In Harrisburg, Rep. Eric Davanzo, a Republican, entered the House chamber wearing a red, white and blue jacket. House speaker Joanna McClinton, a Democrat, asked him to remove it. He quietly refused and took his seat. McClinton then had a security officer make him leave. The speaker's action was inexcusable. She should be censored but likely won't be. Don’t follow rainbow Dear Editor, I would not recommend visiting the Rainbow Gathering this year on Queen Creek. It appears the U.S. Forest Service is following the ICE example and making a heavy Law Enforcement presence. They have posted no parking along Forest Road 119 and taped off most of the suitable parking areas near the gathering. This is from the Hearts Content Road clear to the Economite Road near Route 337. Dear Editor, I’d like to send a shout-out to Officer Charles Andersen of the Conewango Police Department for providing shelter to myself, my sisters and mom, and two other people on Sunday, June 14, during the tornado warnings. My family was on our way home when we got the tornado warning and “take cover” alerts while passing through Starbrick. At the same time, the tornado siren sounded at the Starbrick VFD. Lack of class at graduation Dear Editor, I had the opportunity to attend the football game at War Memorial Field on June 5. Oh, wait a minute. It was the 2026 graduation ceremony, not a football game. One would not have known that this was supposed to be a graduation ceremony, though. I was appalled at the number of people who kept going up and down the bleachers during the ceremony!
