Youngsville stars named to all-region teams

A trio of Youngsville basketball standouts were awarded District 10 Region 3 second-team all-star status when teams were released earlier this week.

For the Youngsville boys — coming off a District 10 Class A playoff appearance — senior Nathan Lucks and freshman Rylan Benton were named to the second team. The District 10 Class A runnerup Youngsville Lady Eagles were represented on the second team by sophomore Riley Robinault.

Lucks, a 6-1 forward, finished his senior season by scoring just under 10 points per contest. Lucks finished with 227 points and scored in double figures 11 times for the Eagles.

His teammate Benton — a 5-8 guard — got his varsity career off to a hot start, leading Youngsville with 14.7 points per game in 2023-24. Benton hit 55 3-pointers for the Eagles and scored 20 points or more in five contests, including a season-best 28 points against Forest Area on Dec. 2.

Robinault was a key member of a Lady Eagles team that finished second in District 10 Class A for the first time since the 1996-97 season.

The 5-7 Robinault averaged 13.6 points per game for Youngsville and eclipsed the 20-point mark in four outings. Those efforts included matching 25-point outputs against both Commodore Perry and Rocky Grove.
