Youngsville falls to Cochranton in softball

YOUNGSVILLE — Cochranton’s first six batters reached safely and scored and the Cardinals’s softball team never looked back during a 16-0 shutout win over Youngsville on Monday at Youngsville High School.

Claire McCartney and Jaidin Frayer each had three hits for the Cardinals in the victory with Frayer hitting a double and home run while driving in four runs. Danielle Hoffman, Brooklyn Needer, Peyton Miller and Reagann McClain all ended with two hits for Cochranton.

Hailey Gray was able to deliver Youngsville’s lone hit of the game with two outs in the third inning. Madison Carnahan, Marissa VanGuilder and Corinthia Edwards all drew walks in defeat.

The Eagles return to action Tuesday, visiting Cambridge Springs.
