EMPORIUM — Sheffield’s track & field program was able to split at Cameron County on Monday, with the boys dominating 128-13 over the Red Raiders, while the girls fell 89-42.

The boys’ relay teams continued to find success, sweeping all three events. Marc Lewis, Alex Eaton, Andrew Kyler and Chase Kyler won the 3,200-meter relay (11:32). Ben Lindberg, Austin Fiscus, Christopher Joblon and Lewis took the top spot in the 1,600-meter relay (4:44). On pace to break a personal record, the boys’ team of Alex Marfink, Dylan Hardwick, Isaac Hammerbeck and Colby Barr dropped the baton on the final handoff. Despite the error, the Wolverines were able to recover and come in ahead of Cameron County in the 400-meter relay (51.42).

Marfink took first in the 110 hurdles (19.71) followed by Zach Barnes (19.96) and Hammerbeck (20.68). Barr easily handled the 100 meters (11.74) and 400 meters (51.42). In addition to his relay win, Hardwick also won the 800 meters (2:20.7) and tied for first in high jump (5-6) with Hayden Holden. Holden came in second behind Will Zdarko in the 200 meters (26.08). Zdarko also won javelin (123-6). Chase Fetzeck came in first in the 300 hurdles (48.05).

Along with Zdarko’s javelin win, the Wolverines’ Fiscus won shot put (33-11.5) and Emre Morgan won discus (92-11.5). Aamon Bowman won both long jump (17-4) and triple jump (34-10).

On the girls’ side, Sarah Hoffman kept her hurdles success rolling to close out April, winning the 100 hurdles (17.27) and 300 hurdles (52.8). Emily Foster easily won the high jump (4-11).
