Warren senior Brady Berdine allowed two runs — one earned — on three hits over 6 1/3 innings, but Warren fell 2-1 in a Region 5 game against Erie High on Monday at Old Legion Field.

“Just a bad day offensively again,” said Warren coach Andrew Morrison, whose Dragons are 3-5 overall and 2-5 in the region. “Their kid pitched well, but we made some poor swing choices and didn’t protect with two strikes; can’t happen.

“Brady pitched great again,” added Morrison. “We need to find a way to score some runs when he’s pitching because he was lights out.”

Berdine struck out 11 and walked two. Konnor Hoffman relieved Berdine for the last two outs in the top of the seventh.

Offensively, Berdine had two hits and knocked in Hoffman with Warren’s lone run in the bottom of the third.

The Dragons left two runners on in the fourth, but didn’t threaten again.

RJ Hawkins threw a complete game for the win for Erie (2-4 overall and 2-4 in Region 5). He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out six. His run allowed was unearned.

Carter Cochran, Eli Snyder and Tage Wyman added singles for Warren, which is next at General McLane on Wednesday.

IROQUOIS DOWNS KNIGHTS

ERIE — Fueled by an eight-run fourth inning, Iroquois rolled to a 17-7 victory over Eisenhower in a baseball game Monday afternoon.

The Knights took a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning, courtesy of an RBI by Cole Kellogg, but the Braves scored three runs in the bottom of the first and led 5-1 after three frames.

Eisenhower battled back in the top of the fourth inning to take a 6-5 lead on singles by Shawn Pascuzzi, Johnny Palmieri and Mason Degnan, but Iroquois erupted for eight runs on 10 hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to regain the lead for good 13-6. The Braves’ Ethan Alderson did the most damage on a bases-loaded double.

The Knights were led by Palmieri, who was 2-4 with an RBI; Pascuzzi, who drove in a pair of runs; and Caleb Jakubczak, Derek Childs and Aaden Nichols, who each had stolen bases.

Eisenhower is back in action Tuesday when it travels to Rocky Grove.
