Lady Knights fall to ‘Hurst Prep
ERIE — The Eisenhower Knights closed out their regular season Thursday night, falling to Mercyhurst Prep 71-27 in Region 3 girls basketball action.
Eisenhower held its own in the opening quarter as sophomore Clara Steinberg scored all of the Knights’ points with three 3-pointers and 13 points total, but the Lakers led by six after eight minutes.
Mercyhurst Prep shut Steinberg and the Knights down in the second quarter, holding Eisenhower to just six points to open up a 42-19 lead at halftime.
Mercyhurst Prep put on a 3-point shooting clinic with 11 3-pointers in the game.
Their Lakers held the Knights to just eight second-half points.
Eisenhower was led by Steinberg’s 13 points, while the Lakers were led by Olivia Kulyk’s 18 points.
The Knights finished the regular season with a 10-11 overall record, including 6-8 in the region, while Mercyhurst Prep improved to 18-3 overall and 13-1 in the region.
Eisenhower is hoping to get a call from District 10 on Sunday when the playoff selection committee meets to decide who makes the cut for the postseason.
