The Warren Youth Climbing League junior high season is heating up at Goat Fort Indoor Climbing.
The last two weeks saw the same four teams competing in different matchups: Allegheny Outfitters Sasquatches, Constables Construction Tigers, Bent Run Hellbenders and Cable Excavating Bulldogs.
The Bent Run Hellbenders have been in several close contests this season. After a heartbreaking 562-554 loss against the Constables Construction Tigers, they came back a week later to edge past the Cable Excavating Bulldogs 594-578.
Coming off of their victory against the Bent Run Hellbenders, the Constables Construction Tigers fell to the climbing prowess of the Allegheny Outfitters 635-570.
The Cable Excavating Bulldogs remain 0-3 — enduring the losing end of some close matches — despite the fact that team leader Grant Criswell sits atop the individual leaderboard with an impressive 44.9 3-Boulder Average.

This older group of climbers has been fun to watch. There is an element of strategy and teamwork that these more experienced athletes are leveraging, and it makes the competitions exciting. The teams have also evolved and the performance gap between the teams is shrinking.
Still, after four weeks of competition, two teams remain undefeated: Allegheny Outfitters (3-0) and Whirley (2-0).
The next doubleheader will be this Monday. The early meet will feature the Kinzua Vet Clinic Bulls vs. the Cable Excavating Bulldogs. One of these teams will finally claim their first win of the season. For the late contest, the Bent Run Hellbenders will look to ride the momentum of their recent win and topple the Whirley Tornadoes to end their undefeated streak.
