Knights earn first victory
ERIE — The Eisenhower baseball won its first game of the season, defeating Seneca 6-3 in Region 4 action Wednesday.
The Knights jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to a Caleb Jakubczak two-run double.
The lead didn’t last long as the Bobcats were able to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.
The Knights regained the lead on a Wyatt Neall RBI double in the top of the third inning, but once again the home team tied up the game in their half of the inning at 3-3.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Knights’ Wes Wilcox singled to drive in Neall for a 4-3 lead.
With Eisenhower clinging to a one-run lead in the top of the seventh inning, Braylon Baker hit a two-run single to make it 6-3.
Wilcox got the win for the Knights, he went 5 2/3 innings and had eight strikeouts. Michael Palmieri earned the save with three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.
The Knights improved to 1-8 overall and 1-1 in region play. They are back in action tonight when they travel to Iroquois.
