Warren’s girls soccer team jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead en route to an 8-2 non-region win on Thursday over Titusville at War Memorial Field.
“We had two great practices this week after playing a very good Fairview team,” said Warren coach Mark Ordiway. “We added three new girls to the roster, which has allowed us to play 11 versus 11 in practice and really helped us. I don’t believe this group has ever been able to play 11 versus 11 due to a limited roster size. The numbers are up and the momentum is building.”
Warren scored early, about three minutes in, on a nice link-up play from Meea Irwin to Lucy Bigelow and back to Meea, who was able to knock it in.
“Another great play was Lucy playing a ball down the sideline to Marielle Stanz, who crossed a sharp ball to Meea for our fourth goal of the half,” said Ordiway.
Eight minutes into the second half, Warren scored off of a corner with Meea as the corner taker and twin sister Leyna Irwin guiding the ball into net.

For the game, Meea Irwin had four goals and an assist, and Leyna Irwin added a hat trick and assist. Bigelow added a goal and assist and Stanz collected two assists.
“Eliza Brook played a strong game as our defensive midfielder,” said Ordiway. “Goalkeeper Hailey Peterson was great in the net; Titusville’s goals were from an own goal and a PK.”
Warren also won the junior contest, 3-2. Down 2-0 early, Warren was able to answer. Bella Campbell scored twice, including the game-winner, and Lilly Stanley tallied the other. Bailey Williams played a strong game in midfield, said Ordiway. In her first-ever soccer game, goalkeeper Alexis Jones got the win in net.
