The Eisenhower wrestling team played host to Titusville Thursday night and lost a tough match 38-25.

“Our wrestlers who played football are starting to come around,” Knights head coach Jared Lindell said.

It was noticed on the mat as Eisenhower was aggressive all night despite missing starters Cole Kellogg and Shawn Pascuzzi to illness.

The match started with Titusville’s 107-pounder wrestler Sawyer Wolfkill earning a 9-1 decision over Sean Miller, but the Knights’ Griffin Williams won a hard fought 8-1 decision to make it 4-3.

From there, it was all Rockets as they built a 32-3 lead.

Eisenhower’s Tucker Lindell had an 8-1 lead with 1:01 left in the third period when he had to take an injury timeout. He used up almost all of his injury time before he finished the match against Jonathon Miller and posted a 14-2 win, to put the score at 32-7 in favor of the visitors.

After Lindell’s win, it was the Knights’ turn as they would win three of the final four matches by pin. Senior Benji Bauer was down 1-0 before he recorded a fall at the 1:22 mark of the third period over Cameron Mott. Fellow seniors Broc English would get a pin at the 1:18 mark in the second period over Burke Hancock, and at 285 pounds Mike Vanatta pinned Hunter Obert at the 1:05 mark of the first period, making the for a final score of 38-25 in favor of the Rockets.

“I’m just really proud of how this team is coming together,” Coach Lindell said. “From the guys wrestling to our bench cheering them on, it’s just a great group of wrestlers on this team. We are going to get back in the wrestling room and continue to work on our conditioning, but considering we were missing some guys and we are nursing along a couple of injuries, I thought we wrestled very well.”
