Record breaker

Bickling sets Warren career goal mark in win

MEADVILLE — Facing a team that will likely be standing between Warren and another District 10 title in the postseason, the Dragons shut out Meadville 6-0 on Wednesday in a regular-season region contest.

Warren led 1-0 at halftime, but scored five second-half goals to blow it open. Three goals came from senior Georgie Bickling, who became the program’s all-time goal scorer in the win with 84 career goals. Earlier this year, she broke the school’s career assists record. She shares both records with her teammates.

“With the season coming to an end, I’ve had time to look back on my soccer career and I wouldn’t have been able to reach this without my very talented teammates throughout my four years,” said Bickling. “I’m very thankful for the team I’ve gotten to play with and I’m happy I get to see them progress as a team.”

Bickling also recorded two assists on Wednesday as Warren improves to 4-2 in Region 6. Meadville is 1-5 in the region.

Freshman teammate Meea Irwin continued her stellar season by scoring two goals, Lauren Andersen added another, and Audrey Smith and Eliza Brook contributed assists in the victory.

“Meadville played a low defensive block,” said Warren coach Jeremy Bickling. “It took us a little bit to figure out a solution, but once we did, we were able to capitalize.”
