Encouragement for our local hospital Dear Editor, Your recent “op ed” referring to the WGH fiscal turnaround and the information regarding other regional rural hospitals hopefully will encourage ongoing support for our local Warren General Hospital. That support for our local hospital services and physicians must be utilized or we could join the demise of the Dunkirk/Fredonia operation and lose physicians. It is always difficult to hear of layoffs and budget cutting measures by our hospital but those prudent decisions have assured the survival of WGH at this time. I am ...

Policy limits views Dear Editor, With all due respect, it is my opinion that you are purposefully or accidentally denying both conservatives and liberals their rights to freedom of speech by limiting them to one letter to the editor per month in which to state their opinions and/or facts about the state of affairs in this country at a time when chaos, division, obstruction and resistance seem to be the only strategy one party has to offer! This is a time when we need more discussion not less. We need to bring to light not hide in darkness all of our thoughts, opinions and facts. ...

Outlaws and disorder Dear Editor, Our world is certainly in chaos with the riots and outright murders of several people, regardless of race or religion. I am all for peaceful protests, but the mayors of some of the biggest riots are all Democrats: Ted Wheeler, Portland Ore., Lori Lightfoot, Chicago, Bill DeBlasio, New York City; Jenny Durkan, Seattle; Keisha Bottoms, Atlanta; and Jacob Frey, Minneapolis. What does this tell us? You may want to consider a change. I’m not saying the Republicans are perfect by no means, but at least the Republicans are for law and order. Most ...

Signs of divided times Dear Editor, My husband and I are Democrats. On our road, as the election draws nearer, more and more Trump 2020 signs pop up on neighbors lawns each day. To be honest, when I pass one of those signs I often shake my head in disbelief wondering, what is it about the past four years that would make you want another four years of the same, or worse? Despite how fervently I would disagree with any argument in favor of a second term for Trump, it would never occur to me to trespass on someone’s property to remove one of those signs. Yet, for this presidential ...

Is it time for change? Dear Editor, I have been so impressed lately with liberal Democratic views on so many issues that I’m considering changing my party affiliation from Constitution to Democrat. I was exuberant when they cited the Constitution when it came to the impeachment trial and that document became their best friend. So happy when they slammed President Donald Trump for closing the door on incoming flights from China over COVID-19 while Nancy Pelosi visits China Town and eats her ice cream. Thrilled when they fight so vigorously for a woman’s right to kill their ...

Taking a stand Dear Editor, Last Saturday my interview with the Times Observer made the front page about my experience at the 60th day of protests in Portland, Ore. I received both positive and negative comments from readers. I was nervous doing an interview and I felt as though I could have been clearer about my purpose for my visit to the protest. All Americans have a right to protest for just about anything and everything here in the land of the free and home of the brave. I support anyone’s right to speak up for what they believe in and that voices of the oppressed should ...
