Dear Editor,

I am miffed! It is more than inconsiderate of the election process that President Pro Tem Joe Scarnati announced 6 days before the final filing date of Tuesday, Feb. 18th, 2020, that he is leaving the PA Senate and not seeking reelection! The press release on his official website is dated Feb. 12th and it appeared in the Warren Times Observer on the 14th! How are citizens interested in running for this most significant elected office in our Commonwealth able to collect 500 signatures and get them to Harrisburg on time? Ballotpedia suggests getting twice the signatures for certainty! Is someone busy collecting signatures and waiting in the wings to run? How may Democrats or Republicans could manage to collect up to a 1,000 petition signatures within four days?
