YMCA to host annual show Saturday

The Warren County YMCA will hold its 12th annual craft show Saturday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A $1 entry fee includes a door prize ticket. Nearly 70 vendors will be on site filling both gymnasiums with overflow into the lobby. Various artists and crafters featuring items such as ceramics, hair bows, silk floral arrangements, shadow boxes, crochet items and quilts are among the items for sale.
Returning artist Martha Lobdell has been creating shadow boxes for nearly a decade. This time consuming craft involves layers of cardstock which range anywhere between six and 25 layers. This eagle has 25 layers. Lobdell has been to several of the past shows that the YMCA has held.
When Scott Bangston retired from teaching at Warren High School, he and his wife, Pat, now share a common interest in quilting. Their second year at this particular show, the Bangstons say that the show is very well organized and is done well.
Artist Barb Matson has been involved with the YMCA Craft Show for four years. A self-taught artist in various mediums, Matson became Involved with the Warren County Veterans Council, and donates 100% of her proceeds to the veterans. She does this in remembrance of her nephew, Sean R. Mitchell, a sergeant who was killed during his second Tour of Duty in Iraq. Matson sees this as a way of our community helping local vets.

Over the past four years, under the direction of Suppa and Papalia, the craft show has doubled in size since its inception 12 years ago. Each year, registration opens the first week in January and fills by the end of that month. There is often a waiting list for crafters and artists after that deadline.
The event benefits the Youth and Family programs and the Youngsville YMCA Site. The YMCA gymnastics team will run a concession stand to benefit their program and a Girl Scout Cookie table will also be on site.
