Warren Phil, Summer Music School present ‘Pops by the Fountain’

Hunter Peterson was a guest vocalist during Thursday’s Pops by the Fountain concert.

The eighth edition of Pops by the Fountain filled downtown Warren with wonderful music Thursday evening.

The joint effort of the Warren County Summer Music School and the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra saw performers set up on Second Ave. in downtown Warren.

The weather was ideal and hundreds set up chairs in the middle of Second Ave. and along storefronts and sidewalks. The concert opened with a bagpipe fanfare, one short classical selection — “Hall of the Mountain King” — and then a mix of both patriotic and pop selections.

This year’s pop selections include “Sandpaper Ballet,” “The Eagles on Tour,” “Broadway Tonight” and “Fascination.” Patriotic selections include “Star Spangled Spectacular,” “From Sea to Shining Sea,” “Washington Post March” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

A tribute to The Eagles that included elements of “Desperado” and “Hotel California” was also performed.
