Warren County announced prescription drug take back event

The Warren County District Attorney’s Office, is encouraging residents to safely dispose of unused prescription medications during a special drug take back event running through June 26, in recognition of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The initiative is aimed at reducing the illegal distribution and misuse of prescription drugs within the community.

Officials say unused medications too often end up being sold or distributed illegally. Proper disposals help prevent prescription drugs from being diverted for unlawful use and keeps potentially dangerous medications out of the wrong hands.

Residents may dispose of prescription medications at the following locations:

• Youngsville Municipal Building — medications may be dropped off in the main lobby Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. After-hours drop-offs can be arranged by contacting Youngsville Police Chief Todd Mineweaser at 814-563-3500.

• Warren County Sheriff’s Office — A disposal box is available in the lobby at 407 Market Street in Warren.

In other community safety news, the Warren County Crimestoppers recently awarded nearly $1,500 in cash rewards to multiple tipsters whose information helped law enforcement solve three separate crimes across Warren County.

Board members thanked the public for its continued support and also expressed appreciation to the Community Foundation of Warren and donors who participated in the May 13 Warren Gives campaign.

Crimestoppers officials also announced they will have a booth during the Downtown Warren Ribfest, scheduled for June 25-27. Visitors can stop by for information and the opportunity to purchase 2026 Steer Dump tickets.

Starting at $3.50/week.
