Rock-A-Thon set for Sunday at First Lutheran

Sunday will be rocking at First Lutheran Church.

A group of adults and students from First Lutheran and St. Johns will be participating in a Rock-A-Thon from 7:30 a.m. to 7;30 p.m.

“This summer First Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran church will send two youth and two adult leaders to the 2024 ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans,” Cheri Kellogg, director of children, youth and family ministry, said. “This event will be a time of personal and spiritual growth for our youth,” she added. “They will meet other youth from around the nation, participate in worship events, learn and work with nonprofit ministry groups and experience diversity on a new scale. We are asking for the support (of) our community to make this possible.”

The Rock-A-Thon is a wait to raise funds for those efforts.

“This will be a relay-style endurance event where each team will be rocking in rocking chairs while serving their church and community, as well as participating in other challenges throughout the day,” Kellogg said. “We are looking for groups and individuals to show their support by praying, showing up to cheer the participants on, and of course pledging money.”

Those interested in contributing are asked to pledge either a blanket amount or an amount per hour for either the adult or youth team.

“We will also have youth vs. adults donation boxes available at First Lutheran Church during the April 7 event,” Kellogg said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
