Bike-Hike Trail to receive award at County Commissioners meeting
The County Commissioners will consider approving a $243,673 contract tied to the Bike-Hike Rehabilitation project at Wednesday’s public meeting at 12 p.m.
In addition, commissioners are expected to issue proclamations recognizing Correctional Officers and Employee Week, National Library Week, Motorcycle Awareness Month, and Emergency Medical Services Week.
With no unfinished business on the agenda, the board will focus on new items, including proposed appointments of Angela Bigelow to the TAWC Board and Antoinetta Lindell to the NWPA Job Connect Board. Commissioners will also consider a resolution authorizing a procurement policy.
Other infrastructure-related matters include review of change orders for an exterior rehabilitation project, addressing clock tower painting and asbestos removal.
Additional items include a municipal police cooperative agreement and a 2026 agreement with Family Services to support a Recovery Center and community outreach efforts. The meeting will also include discussion of an appointment to the Planning Commission.
A substantial portion of the session will focus on the consent agenda, where commissioners will review routine items such as minutes from the March 18 meeting, along with finance and human resources reports.
According to the latest human resources report, the county recorded seven new hires and seven separations as of April 1, while continuing efforts to fill eight open positions, including an assistant district attorney and two probation officers.
Departmental updates will also be reviewed, including reports on elections, grants and planning and zoning. Election data from March indicates 113 new voter registrations, bringing the county’s total to 25,400 registered voters.
Grant updates highlight ongoing work on several projects, including the Sheridan Street stormwater installation, progress at Youngsville High School and applications for the Tidioute boat launch.
Residents will have an opportunity to speak during the public comment and special presentations portion of the meeting.
