A bus-load of Valentine’s spirit was delivered on Friday.

Students at Warren Area Elementary School created and decorated Valentine’s cards for the drivers of Warren Bus Lines.

The cards were made to look like buses. They were even labeled with the bus numbers the students ride.

Those cards, thank you notes, and doughnuts were delivered Friday to Warren Bus Lines by WAEC Assistant Principal Kylie Harris.

Harris and Principal Jennifer Hobbs wanted to give the students a way to thank the drivers.

“They are an incredibly important part of our children’s lives,” Harris said.

“They are the first and last (school) person they see each and every day, and that matters so much.”

The principals initially considered having students create some cards to accompany a delivery of doughnuts to the drivers.

They asked teachers to have students make some cards as time allowed.

” I was completely overwhelmed by the response and the thoughtfulness of the kids, even the very young students, many of whom wrote very heartfelt messages such as ‘thank you for keeping us safe,'” Harris said. “They put enormous detail into the cards, often listing their bus number, the driver’s name…”

One student even wrote a joke.

“I think it speaks to our school’s culture of showing F.I.R.E. – Friendship, Independence, Responsibility, and Excellence – and telling those that make a difference how much their efforts are appreciated,” Harris said.

“It was a very thoughtful gesture by them and really had a positive impact on my drivers,” Warren Bus Lines Owner Jeff Blair said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
