County members part of Civil Air Patrol Mission

Civil Air Patrol members during a mission in March.

In late March, the Civil Air Patrol’s (CAP) New York Wing was activated by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) in response to a distress beacon activation. Utilizing their extensive training and resources, with the help of state, county, and tribal law enforcement members of CAP’s Western New York Group worked diligently through the night rain to find the source of the signal.

At approximately 11 p.m. March 31, members successfully found a personal locator beacon, which had been inadvertently activated due to a low battery. Fortunately, it was determined that no victims were involved in the incident.

Civil Air Patrol remains committed to its mission of emergency services, promoting aviation, and

supporting local communities. Thank you to all who contributed to this successful operation.

There are eight cadet members who live in Warren County:
