Dear Editor, It is with great sadness that I drive around town and view the remnants of our last election. No matter which side of the isle you supported, it’s time to move on and accept the results of what was determined in November of last year. The signs from those who supported the “other side” are still in evidence and I’m at a loss to understand why this is happening. Dear Editor, First, let me say that I’m a firm believer that people have the right to spend their money any way they want. Having said that, I looked over the “Warren Gives” data, online for 2020. There were (18) Volunteer Fire Departments listed among the recipients. In total, those 18 Volunteer Fire Department, combined, received (8%) of all the final funds. For a perspective, the “Top 10 Organizations” receiving funds got (42%) of the funds – and there wasn’t a single Volunteer Fire Department among them. Dear Editor, There are several good reasons to raise the minimum wage to $16 per hour! It would decrease the number of people living in poverty. It would increase the number of people employed and decrease the number relying on Government assistance. It would improve the economy, giving more people buying power. Dear Editor, Recently, while President Joe Biden was exposing his executive orders on gun control, two mass shootings were underway in Texas and South Carolina. Nothing Biden was doing would slow the epidemic. Starting in the ’70s the conditioning of youth to use guns in movies, TV and games was established. The one thing I learned in psychology class was conditioning. Without careful guidance, exposure to entertainment with shooting is conditioning.
