ANF hiring high school students for summer work

Area students have a chance to spend their summer working in the Allegheny National Forest.

The Allegheny National Forest is seeking applications from high school students who are interested in preserving natural resources to work on the forest this summer. Students will be part of the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Summer Program, which provides employment opportunities and environmental education to students aged 15-18.

The ANF will hire a five-person crew to work on the Bradford Ranger District and another five-person crew to work on the Marienville Ranger District.

The Bradford Ranger District is located in Marshburg between Warren and Bradford and includes sites in Warren County.

The YCC program runs eight weeks, beginning in mid-June and continuing through early August. Participants will work weekdays, for eight hours a day and earn $7.25 per hour. Students are responsible for their transportation to the districts.

Applications for employment may be picked up at high school counselors’ office or on the Allegheny National Forest website: http://www.fs.usda.gov/allegheny/ in the Quick Links section. Please include a valid email address when completing the application, as that is how applicants will be contacted. Application deadline is April 20, 2017.
