James Taylor tribute band performs at Struthers Library Theatre Friday

Times Observer photo provided The tribute band Steamroller will be performing their musical tribute to the six times Grammy Award winner James Taylor at Struthers Library Theatre on Friday evening.

Yankee Bush Productions has sponsored a show featuring a tribute band to James Taylor, a musician, six-time Grammy Award winner and an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Steamroller is set to perform at 8 p.m. on Friday at Struthers Library Theatre in Warren.

Steamroller is an eight-piece band made up of full-time professional drummer Jim Sturtevant, a native of Warren; American singer and songwriter Sam Hyman, a native of Erie is the front man. Musician, vocalist and composer, Hyman’s original music has been featured in television and theatrical productions around the globe.

Hyman’s degree was received in music composition from D’Angelo School of Music and he has since had the opportunities to work with music industry artists such as Lou Rawls, Eric Burden, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Crosby Stills & Nash, Mitch Ryder, Aimee Mann, 10,000 Maniacs, and The Violent Femmes. He has collaborated with Praz (Fugees, Wyclef Jean and Lauren Hill) on Dante Thomas’s cover of Sam’s original song FLY, the title cut of Dante’s freshman Elektra Records release.

Recently Hyman’s original song, “You’re In My Heart,” was featured on CBS Television’s The Young and the Restless.

Later this summer, on Sunday, Aug. 18, Sturtevant will be performing on stage at the Chautauqua Institution’s Amphitheater with Charity Nuse & Friends.
