Nonprofit Caring For Life honors Mother’s Day with Mom Prom

Pictured are moms at a previous Mom Prom having a fun evening at the Conewango Club in Warren.

The Conewango Club in Warren will be sparkling at 7 p.m. May 10 for the 11th Mom Prom, sponsored by the nonprofit organization Caring For Life (CFL).

For over a decade it has been a tradition in Warren for women over the age of 21 to come to the Conewango Club for a robust evening of dancing, appetizers and a cash bar. DJ Josh Bigelow, will be returning once again, bringing patrons all their dance floor favorites, according to Darbee Harrington, a CFL board member.

“‘So, shake It off’ and come ‘make the moves up as you go,’ all while supporting Warren County families in crisis with a seriously ill child,” said Harrington. Warren County families who have a seriously ill child can be aided through the funding provided by Caring For Life, a non-profit United Fund philanthropy.

This year’s Mom Prom theme is “Taylor’s Version,” which is in recognition of pop icon Taylor Swift.

“Whether our attendees loved her early days as a country singer or have her newest album the Tortured Poets Department, the theme is meant to encompass everyone,” explained Katie Walker, a CFL representative.

Attending moms are encouraged to dress in their favorite clothing style era or simply slip into a favorite party dress. DJ Bigelow will be spinning all of Swift’s hit songs, as well as other party favorites from multiple musical eras.

The annual Mom Prom is Caring For Life’s biggest fundraiser of the year, according to Harrington. According to Caring For Life, since 2005 the non-profit has registered 67 families and reimbursed over $342,247 in medical expenses.

In that time, CFL has also provided 78 care packages to families whose child had to be flown to a children’s hospital due to an emergency situation.
