Sheffield posts volleyball win; Eagles fall
SHEFFIELD — Sheffield’s volleyball team defeated Tidioute Charter 25-18, 25-16, 25-23 on Wednesday at Sheffield High School.
“Our passing was better tonight, allowing us to run our offense,” said Sheffield coach Melissa Lemay, whose Wolverines are 2-4 overall. “We are still struggling with our hitting efficiency. We are getting a lot of swings, but not turning them into kills and, worse yet, we are making too many attack errors. I want them swinging and being aggressive, but the little mistakes with form are ongoing and something that we need to continue to work on. Our underclassmen are starting to settle in with each match. Effort and energy were definitely present tonight, and hopefully we can take that same energy into Ridgway (today).”
Madison Connolly had six kills, 13 digs, and four aces for Sheffield; Lily Richards had 11 assists and three aces; Emily Davidson 11 digs; Camryn Sundberg had four blocks; and Lily Benton six digs.
Sheffield’s junior varsity also swept TCCS 25-19, 25-23. Peyton Heeter had five assists and five aces, and Sydney Barr four aces.

YOUNGSVILLE — A strong defensive effort lifted the Cranberry Berries to a 3-0 road victory over the Youngsville Eagles at Youngsville High School.
The Eagles lowered their margin of defeat in each game in the loss, but ultimately fell on the wrong end of a 25-17, 25-18, 25-19 score.
