Old Timers sweep doubleheader in Jamestown

The Jamestown Old Timers Baseball Club hosted the Salem AMVETS Saturday night and Sunday morning for a doubleheader at Diethrick Park in Jamestown.

The Old Timers came out swinging and shutout the Salem team both games 11-0 and 16-0.

In Game 1, the Old timers were led by Chris Yost and Wade Nelson, both going 3 for 4. Doubles were hit by Yost, Nelson and Jason Ostrom. Winning pitcher for the Old Timers was Manager Ed Baldensperger with a complete-game shutout.

In Game 2, the Old Timers were led by Yost and Troy Johnson, both going 3 for 3. Doubles were hit by Yost, Doug Frank, Ostrom and Glenn Moore. Winning pitcher for the Old Timers was Winston Woodard with a complete-game shutout.

The Jamestown and Area Old Timers Baseball Club plays in the 50 Plus League out of Youngstown, Ohio. The team consists of players from Western New York and Northeast Pennsylvania. The next game is on Sunday, June 7 in Warren, Ohio, followed by Sunday, June 14 in Salem, Ohio. The next home game is Sunday, June 21 at Diethrick Park at 11 a.m. This will be a doubleheader against Springfield, Ohio.
