Holes-in-one

WARREN — Barb Wilson registered a hole-in-one on the 98-yard No. 11 at Conewango Valley Country Club.

Witnesses were Judy McGinn and Karen Beardsley.

Debbie Borst recorded her first hole-in-one when she used a 7-wood to ace No. 4 at Blueberry Hill Golf Club on May 29.

Witnesses were Jim Borst, and Bev and Ted Eldridge.

Golf leagues

RUSSELL — Dale Melquist parlayed seven pars to record a 38 gross and a 32 net to lead the Friday Senior Men’s League at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

Jim Ferrick and Mark Kestler had 8.5 points apiece. Ferrick now has 43.5 points for the season.

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Fred Carder shot a 38 to lead the gross scores in the Youngsville Senior Golf League at Maplehurst Country Club.

Other gross scores were John Blum 39, Terry Jackson 39, Pete Hofert 41, Don Melson 41, Tim Sandberg 41 and Art Ward 41.

Carder also paced the net scores with a 31.

Other net scores were Jackson 32, Dick Tyler 32, Marty Yucha 32 and Rick Preston 33.

Carder also collected an eagle; Ray Adams had two birdies; and Hofert, Melson, Sandberg, Tyler, Jim California, Brian Kane, Juan Torres, Gary VanGuilder and Bob Yuch all had a birdie; and Jackson recorded the longest putt on No. 9.

Road races

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — The Lakewood YMCA is now holding registration for the annual July 4th Firecracker Run.

The 9 a.m. race, which will consist of the 10K run, a two-mile run and a two-mile walk, will kick off the day-longfestivities in Lakewood on Tuesday, July 4.

Pre-registration (through June 24) is $30, which includes a T-shirt. Late registration (June 25th-July 3) is $30, but does not include a T-shirt. Registration will be taken from 7-8:30 a.m. the day of the race at the Lakewood beach.

Prizes will be awarded to the following: first three overall male and female finishers; and age group awards to the top three finishers in each division. The top five male and female finishers will receive awards for the two-mile run and the two-mile walk.

Sponsors include Lake Shore Paving, Jamestown Kitchen & Bath, Piazza Carpet One, M&T Bank, Orion Tradesmen, Wells Fargo, Western NY Urology Associates, LLC, Mr. & Mrs. Brian Mallory, Wegmans and The Pepsi Bottling Group.

The free race for children ages 2-12, and the free M&T Bank money hunt for ages 2-10 will return. Registration is not required for those events.
