Harrison sets 2 records

Warren’s swim teams have started out at a blistering pace. Monday’s home-opening split with Bradford at the Warren YMCA was no exception.
Despite a 69-66 loss in the boys meet, Warren junior Hugh Harrison broke two more school records. He broke the 50-meter freestyle record previously held by Clark Eason in 2016 at 24.83 seconds with his 24.30. Harrison also broke a 2014 mark in the 100-meter breaststroke set by Bennett Steber in 1:09.60 with his 1:07.01 on Monday.
Warren freshman Drake Niemitz is also coming on, qualifying for districts in two events — both the 200-meter freestyle and 400-meter freestyle.
The Lady Dragons swam to a 115-55 victory, adding a couple more District 10 qualifiers to an already long list early in the season. Maddie Walker swam a district qualifying time in the 100-meter backstroke and freshmen Leyna Irwin qualified in the 50-meter freestyle and Lucy Harrison in the 200-meter freestyle.
According to Warren head coach Russ Beyer, the night was made even more special with a handful of alumni home from college over Christmas break.
Full individual event results were unavailable at press time.
