Next man up.
Warren kept the momentum going from last year’s four-game winning streak to end the season, dominating Conneaut, 33-0, on Friday at War Memorial Field.
It didn’t happen exactly how the Dragons planned.
After an injury to senior quarterback Landon Douvlos, sophomore Eric Dippold stepped up to throw two long touchdown passes to Ben White, and added a touchdown plunge.
Dippold finished 7-of-13 for 122 yards, the two TD passes and a meaningless pick to end the first half.

Sophomore Tommy Nyquist rushed 23 times for 100 yards and a score, and junior Ethan Senz capped off the scoring with a 20-yard scamper to paydirt.
Oh, and don’t forget the defense.
Warren held Conneaut to exactly 100 yards for the game — 28 yards in the first half. The Dragons held sophomore quarterback Logan Groover without a completion (0 for 6) with two interceptions in the first half.
A play after he broke up a long pass attempt, Warren’s Derek McMeans picked off Groover to stop Conneaut’s best first-quarter field position. Nyquist added an interception before the half.
Other keys on defense included Rashad Fofana stopping a fake punt short, as well as sacks from Fofana, Justice Greene, and Nick Penucci. Nyquist batted down a fourth-down jump ball late in the third.
“These kids faced a lot of adversity this week with Landon being out, and there was a lot of uncertainty as to how the team was going to react,” said Warren coach Mark Morelli. “But Eric came in and he played like a seasoned veteran. Ben White (had) two big catches for touchdowns, plus two nice punt returns. Ethan Senz with a touchdown run and with our struggles with extra points, he made one. Tommy Nyquist had over a hundred yards.”
Morelli added: “And the defense posted, in my five years here, I think only the second shutout we’ve had. It was a great way to start the season off, and that says a lot about our seniors. Our seniors are taking that feel-good vibe we had to end last year and carrying it on to this year.”
