Dragons shut out Oil City for crown, move to 11-0

The Warren boys soccer team is the Region 4 champion.

Sparked by a hat trick from Parks Ordiway and four assists from John Page, the Dragons rolled to a 12-0 victory over Oil City on Saturday.

Ian Darling, Corban Reinard and Mark Lynds added two goals apiece for the winners, who raised their record to 11-0 heading into Tuesday’s 6 p.m. game at Titusville.

“Because of COVID-19 and the challenges we had, it’s nice to see the kids rebound, from not playing soccer to coming out as champions,” Warren coach Denny Flatt said. “Basically, they had one goal in mind since the season started. They overcame some injuries, too. Every team has adversity, but I’m really proud of how this team has responded.”

Also finding the back of the net for the Dragons were Zane Anderson in his first game back after injury; Ricky Madril; and Patrick Hefferen. Also credited with assists were JT Blum with two, and Sean Duckett, Wesley Kiehl, Roman Sheets, Holden Creal and Lynds.

“Basically, they’re effort determined how successful they were this year, but we’re a long ways from being done yet,” Flatt said. “We’re happy to win the region, but there is still a lot of hunger. They’re just a good group of kids who work hard. They’re goal-oriented.”

After Tuesday’s road game at Titusville, Warren will face Meadville at home at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
