UNION CITY 3,

EISENHOWER 0

The Lady Knights were swept by Union City in a Region 3 volleyball match on Thursday – 16-25, 15-26 and 16-25. Ike is still searching for its second region win after sweeping Youngsville on Sept. 14.

“There was one game we missed seven serves, that could have been the difference right there,” said Eisenhower coach Ashlee Sprandle. “(Union City) didn’t really have anything we couldn’t handle except we weren’t covering our blocks. When we swung, they blocked it and we couldn’t recover. That’s something we need to work on at practice.”

Mallory Trumbull finished with five kills, three aces and one block for the Lady Knights while Emily McJunkin added four kills and one block. Madi Hultman and Kristen Wagner had 17 and 12 digs, respectively.

Eisenhower will have the weekend to regroup before visiting Tidioute in a non-region match on Monday.

Cameran Edwards had five digs and one kill for Ike in a 12-25, 18-25 junior varsity loss. Sami Shelton added a pair of kills and Maddie Fetzeck finished with one kill and one ace.

BROCKWAY 3,

SHEFFIELD 1

The Lady Wolverines opened Thursday’s match with a win, but couldn’t hold off a hungry Brockway team as they fell in four games – 25-21, 23-25, 20-25 and 20-25.

“We just played very inconsistent,” said Sheffield coach Traci Vile. “We were up and we were down. It was just a rough night.”

Rachel Lemay paced the Lady Wolverines with 14 assists and 14 service points while Mya Grubbs added 10 service points and eight assists. Claire Pierson and Julia Vile led the way with 11 and eight kills, respectively.

Sheffield returns to action next Thursday at Johnsonburg.

The Lady Wolverines dropped a close JV match in three games, winning 25-23 before falling to Brockway 24-26 and 11-15. Callen Copley had nine service points and Faite Smith had eight service points.

SAEGERTOWN 3,

YOUNGSVILLE 0

SAEGERTOWN – Youngsville was swept by Saegertown in a Region 3 volleyball match – 13-25, 12-25 and 16-25.

“We played better, but we’re still making some of the same mistakes,” said Youngsville coach Bev Fox. “Serve receive was our downfall again. We were right with them in all the games and then one girl would come up and serve us off the court.”

Madison Fehlman finished with 11 service points and four aces for the Lady Eagles while Elyssa Horn led the way defensively with 26 digs.

Youngsville returns to action Tuesday at Cambridge Springs.

The Lady Eagles’ junior varsity team lost in two games, 8-25 and 9-25.
