YOUNGSVILLE — Wyatt Dalrymple pitched a complete game and the Youngsville Eagles won their sixth consecutive outing with a 7-3 Region 3 triumph over the Rocky Grove Orioles on Monday at Davis Street Field in Youngsville.

Dalrymple needed just 86 pitches to go the distance, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.

Offensively, Youngsville erupted for three runs in both the first and sixth innings to ensure the win and set up a showdown with region-leading Saegertown on Wednesday.

Rocky Grove struck first Monday quickly jumping out to a 1-0 lead. Dillon Hamilton singled and scored on Eli Wilson’s RBI double to start the day’s scoring.

The Eagles didn’t stay behind for long, collecting three runs in the bottom of the first.

With two out and one on, Nathan Lucks fell behind 0-2 before fouling off four pitches and ultimately working a walk to extend the inning. David Manning followed with a clutch two-run double and a third Eagles run later scored when a ball put into play by Cole Johnson was misplayed for an error.

The Eagles wouldn’t score again until the fifth, but the lead held at two as Dalrymple continued pitching to contact and letting his defense help him out. One such instance came in the third inning when Talon Mesel made a diving catch in the left-center field gap to rob an Orioles hitter of extra bases and possibly a run.

The two teams traded runs in the bottom of the fifth and the top of the sixth. Matt DeSimone narrowly beat the tag at home to score Youngsville’s run and Wilson’s RBI groundout made it 4-2 entering the bottom of the sixth.

In the sixth, Youngsville was able to plate three runs and extend its advantage to five. Manning hit his second double of the game and later scored on Dalrymple’s RBI single. Cole Johnson and pinch-hitter Rylan Benton also delivered key RBI hits to add to the Eagles’ tally.

Rocky Grove got a leadoff triple from Schiffer Anderson and an RBI single from Haydon Bevier to begin the seventh before Dalrymple put the clamps down and got Hamilton to pop out to catcher Cole Johnson to end the game.

Manning and Dalrymple each had two hits in the victory and Manning also added two runs scored and two RBI.

The Eagles and Saegertown Panthers meet Wednesday in Saegertown with the Eagles looking to pull even in the Region 3 standings. The Panthers beat Youngsville 15-3 on April 15 in Youngsville.
