Dear Editor, “What Others Say” (Jan. 21) was an excellent example of the narrow-minded approach to politics that has so scarred our country. The writer of the letter cherry-picked one editorial that affirmed his view that Biden was a bad choice. Whoot, I say. If the writer had any intention of being fair, he would have weighed that one comment against the other headlines of the day. He didn’t. I will. Bargain worth the price

Dear Editor, I read in the Times Observer about the issue between Deerfield Township and Tidioute Fire Department. If Deerfield can’t afford $2,400 a year for fire services they should be made to show their tax balances. That is public knowledge, is it not? $2,400 divided by 320 residents amounts to $7.50 per year or 2.5 cents per day! Deerfield supervisors need a wake-up call and soon. Carman J. Dear Editor, As a 30-year veteran who served under five Presidents — Democrat and Republican alike as both a Regular Army Officer and a Guardsman, I watch with great alarm the actions being taken by the FBI and the Guard leadership to profile and remove Guardsmen from the ranks for “inappropriate comments or texts” as reported by the Military Times and a similar AP story in the Warren Times Observer. A matter of trust

Dear Editor, For years my mom was Judge of Election for Warren’s old Fifth Ward. She was really proud to be able to serve her community that way. The entire team was dedicated to fairness, accuracy, and timely reporting of results. Every vote was sacred. Responsibility was fundamental. Rest room breaks were seldom and quick. Team oversight was sacrosanct. Those who replaced her and the team she worked with were just as dedicated and honest. I know all the poll workers in my region, Warren East. I probably don’t agree much (maybe none) politically with many or all of them. ...

Dear Editor, When the news broke about New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo been placing people with the virus into nursing homes, I placed a subscription to the newspaper thinking I’d read about these terrible events. But not a peep of it appeared in the paper — even after Cuomo admitted it, saying the CDC told him to do it! That only after the families were bringing a lawsuit against him. Dear Editor, As published, the average size of the COVID-19 virus is (0.125 micron). One micron is “one millionth of a meter” or (0.000039 inch). Since the average virus is 0.125 micron, or one eight of a micron, that puts its average size at (0.0000049 inch). We’re all familiar with the width of a dime, published as (0.705 inch). If you were to lay these viruses in a straight line, end to end across the width of a dime, you could lay (143,256) of them across its width.
