Another gospel

Dear Editor,

I concur with the letter in the Feb. 10 edition. However, I am one who does not put much faith in polls, because they are not dependable and sometimes far from accurate.

We rest our faith in the Holy Scriptures, and the Scriptures alone. He’s absolutely correct, a vast number of churches are endorsing sin in favor of an act of love. In just one more day after this newspaper edition, whoever watched the Super Bowl would be treated to the “He Gets Us” commercial, which is a perverted gospel that is vastly different from the Gospel of Christ. This, by its very definition, is the social justice gospel.

This is only a repeat of the hippy gospel of the ’60s, love, love, love your neighbor.

One of the most compelling scenes was the woman sitting outside of Planned Parenthood, while the protesters stood out in front of the abortion clinic. Whether she was leaving or entering is not the issue. The clip was to shame the pro-life activists.

Christ washed His disciples feet in John 13, and Peter, who first refused to have his feet washed, was rebuked by Jesus, saying that if he didn’t have his feet washed, he had no part with Him. T

he illustration is this, an unrepentant sinner has no part with Christ until they are washed from their sins. The Bible tells us the blood of Christ cleanses us from sin, not enables us to continue in it.

The “Jesus” of the modern church is a softie, a needy pacifist, accepting any and all with their sins to come into the Kingdom just the way they are, and this non-judgmental “Jesus” only knows love. This is not the Jesus of the Holy Scriptures.

A holy God must judge sin. As the writer asked, will this nation repent, or face the wrath of God?

We are not the ones who are on the outer fringes of Christianity. We are the ones who hold to Bible truth concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment.

Pointing a finger

Dear Editor,

I guess I am writing another strange letter like I did a year or two ago.

On a recent morning, I was throwing some trash away at the Market Street side trash receptacle of CVS Pharmacy. I felt I had been acting a little weird, so I was calling myself weird a little out loud when a young woman passed behind me on her way to her car. I’m not sure she heard me good, but I fear if she did, she might have thought I was talking about her, which I would never do.

So just in case, if she is reading this letter, please know I was not talking about you. If need be, I will try to whisper from now on, or better yet, keep my mouth shut.

Tom Clark,

Warren
