Sheffield to host new festival: Punkin’ Fest

SHEFFIELD — Many Sheffield residents were heart broken when it was announced that there would be no Johnny Appleseed Festival in 2024.

In better news, and in hopes of lifting locals’ spirits, a group of Sheffield residents has gotten together to organize a new festival for 2024 — the Sheffield Punkin’ Fest.

The brand new Sheffield Punkin’ Fest is scheduled to run from October 11 through 13 at Sheffield Memorial Park.

“There will be pumpkins on display Friday and Saturday night which will be lit up for everyone’s enjoyment,” said Koza. “There are also going to be other contests and many other things to enjoy during the Punkin’ Fest.”

The festival committee has planned many craft and food vendors, as well as concessions provided by the Lions Club and a few other food vendors. In addition, there will be a large display of pumpkins – some which need to be carved and others which have already been carved.

Punkin’ Fest is currently still accepting applications for festival vendors — any person or small business interested should contact Debbie Koza at (814) 688-8667, by calling or text messaging. According to Koza, she can also be reached via Facebook.
