Woman’s club of Warren kicks off 2023-2024 season
Photo provided to the Times Observer The Woman’s Club of Warren kicked off the 2023-2024 season last week. The speaker was Mark Nordenberg, chancellor emeritus of the University of Pittsburgh, chair of Pitt’s Institute of Politics and director of the Dick Thornburgh Forum for Law & Public Policy. He spoke of the importance of passing on values that we aspire to such as kindness, hospitality, and generosity. America is awash with what he called a pandemic of contempt which makes it impossible to work together. The key points to strive for are resisting the culture of contempt, promoting compromise, and educating the ideals of democracy. The Woman’s Club is always open to new members. The next luncheon and program will be held on Oct. 16.
