Master Gardener program to begin in Warren County

The Conewango Creek Watershed Association is partnering with Penn State Extension to bring a new program to Warren County.

The Master Watershed Program will begin August 28 and applications are being taken now. The Master Watershed Program is modeled after the Master Gardener program where volunteers from the community receive training and in exchange, they provide volunteer community service to the community. This local chapter will include Crawford, Erie and Warren counties.

Generally, 15 to 20 people are selected for the program each year. Those accepted to the program training classes that focus on a broad range of topics.

“It is a great opportunity to learn more about our precious water resources and to improve the health of our streams, rivers and other natural resources,” said Elizabeth Dropp, Conewango Creek Watershed Association chairperson.

Training will consist of a combination of Saturday field trips and online weekly training on Thursday evenings. For more information, visit extension.psu.edu/programs/watershed-stewards/about. Warren County residents may also call Dropp at 814-726-1441 and request a return call. Information is also available at www.conewangocreek.org.
