Warren, Youngsville compete at Oil City Invitational

OIL CITY, Pa. – Naomi Swartzbaugh and Jake Hogg led the Youngsville Eagles at the Oil Country Invitational on Saturday. Warren competed as well, with some of their top athletes in action at the Altoona Invitational. Swartzbaugh won the 300 hurdles with a blistering time of 47.68 and she finished third in the 100 hurdles in 16.41. Her teammate, Jocelyn Taydus, was fifth in both races at 17.04 and 51.26 respectively. Warren’s boys tennis team avenged a season-opening loss to Elk County Catholic with win over the defending District 9 champions at Betts Park Tuesday. The Crusaders rolled to a 6-1 win over the Dragons in St. Mary’s April 3. The Dragons flipped the script with a 5-0 win to close out the regular season. “We lost the first match our team played this year against this same team, 6-1, so for us to win 5-0 really shows our team’s growth over the season,” Warren associate coach Thomas Pellegrino said. Warren County athletes dominate at McDowell Invite

ERIE, Pa. – Despite cold weather conditions for late April, several Warren County athletes dominated at the prestigious McDowell Invitational on Saturday. Youngsville’s Jake Hogg and Naomi Swartzbaugh, as well as Warren’s Lydia Latimer and Sheffield’s Emily Leichtenberger were all individual event winners, and they along with several others were among the top performers in a loaded field.
