Eagles fall at home to Titusville

Youngsville's Jake Hogg is seeking a D-10 title repeat.

The Youngsville track and field teams ran into a juggernaut on their home turf Tuesday, with Titusville sweeping its way to victory, 101-39 in the girls meet and 115-22 in the boys.

Both Rocket teams are leading Region 4, and they showed why, with tremendous depth.

That being said, Jake Hogg and Naomi Swartzbaugh both shined once again, as did several other Eagle athletes.

Swartzbaugh raced to victory in both hurdle races, as well as the 100, while finishing second in the javelin.

Hogg took three firsts in the high jump, triple jump and javelin.

Youngsville’s Mik Fehlman leads early on during the 1600 meter run in Tuesday’s meet against Titusville. Fehlman earned a third-place finish in the event, as well as a second-place in the 3200 for YHS.

Also for the girls, Jocelyn Taydus finished second in the discus and 100 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles, while Amber Evans was second in the triple and Julia Bojaczko second in the 3200.

For the boys, Mik Fehlman was second in the 3200 and third in the 1600 and Austin Fitzgerald second in the 100 hurdles.

“This was a good awakening for us,” said Youngsville coach John Victor. “I think maybe some of our kids thought that things would come easy to them that didn’t come so easy. Titusville was strong, you have to give them credit. They have depth and talent. We’re going to use this as a learning experience and move forward.”

The Eagles return to action on Saturday at the Oil City Invitational.
