Dear Editor, Over the summer, columnist Star Parker wrote a column headlined “Bogus claims from Poor People’s Campaign.” She took issue with the the stand on a mandated $15 per hour minimum wage, the filibuster and proposed expanded voting “rights.” She illustrated that their premises are flawed and can actually backfire on the disadvantaged.On voting,why is it so cruel to insist on “ID” and prevent fraud? Masks not perfect

Dear Editor, What’s a “micron” — it’s a unit of measure, like an inch, but way smaller in size and equal to “one-millionth of a meter”. With a meter being roughly (39.37 inches) and, dividing that by one million (1,000,000), one single micron is roughly (0.000039 inch) in size. That’s really small and very difficult to even imagine. There’s nothing wrong with wearing a mask — whether it does, or does not, stop the virus. Struggling to connect

Dear Editor, This mom is fed up with the extremely poor internet in Warren County. I understand from Kathy Rapp’s office that additional funding for our county is forthcoming for internet upgrades in our area. I beg you to make sure the area of Yankee Bush Road is included. I have twin 10th-grade homeschoolers. We have Verizon internet (the) best plan we can get. Our internet is awful. Dear Editor, Why are we pushing vaccinations when more and more, vaccinations don’t allow the alleged freedoms that we were promised when we were told to get it. Many places still require masks even if vaccinated. Why? I went to visit a patient at Warren General Hospital recently, I’m vaccinated, had my temperature taken, and wore a mask. The patient was vaccinated and wore a mask, but ... can’t visit. Again, why? Overboard on positives

Dear Editor, I hope everyone realizes that positive tests and symptomatic cases are two different things. Having a kid in school with a positive test should not really be that alarming. Many times a child gets quarantined because they were around an asymptomatic individual who simply had a positive test. So you could have an asymptomatic kid go to school who was simply around another asymptomatic kid and just because they throw a positive test they and all their friends get put on house arrest. One other option Dear Editor, In last week’s editorial about the special school coard meeting you misrepresented me. You left out my suggestion we postpone the meeting. The special meeting was planned to end at 9 a.m. because members had other obligations. A little after 9 a.m. I said we either needed to postpone the meeting to a later time, or we needed to vote now. No one expressed a desire to postpone; the president called for any other comments.
