Finding our way

Dear Editor,

I recently saw a church sign in New York that said, “Do Your Best, Let God Do The Rest.” This is a perfect example of humanistic religion, as it ejects the sovereign will of God from a person’s life.

We recently have dealt with hurricanes in the east, and are currently battling wildfires in the west. The failed pullout from Afghanistan cost 13 American lives and one hundred plus Afghan lives, notwithstanding the fact that we will pay for this fiasco somewhere down the road.

Joe Biden said the COVID pandemic would end with him. But he didn’t say when, and it’s as bad as it once was. This administration has been an abject failure in everything he has touched.

Our country is in the worse shape now than it has ever been. Leadership has been weak for decades, and it just might have something to do with a nation who has turned away from God.

The only time we hear anything about the Lord God and prayer is when there is a tragedy to address.

When things are going well by man’s standards, the accolades are shared by those in charge, and there is never a time to pause and thank God, or to request His leading in our affairs. In the Holy Scriptures, Acts 17:6, the disciples were accused of turning the world upside down. They didn’t do their best and let God do the rest. Their reputations preceded them. They put God first.

The churches of God don’t realize the power that they possess, if only He was put first. During this pandemic, countless churches across the nation shut down, and many have closed their doors for good. Instead of the fear of God, they put the fear of man first. Countless folks who call themselves Christians sit home and do not attend church, giving varying excuses. Yet the Lord allows no excuses whatsoever for any true believer to not be in the fellowship of other believers.

Putting God first would change the course this country is on. Professing Christians complain about ?ins and the way of the world, but most put forth little to no effort in doing anything to advance the cause of Christ. The Bible instructs us to be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, James 1:22

Let’s not just attack Biden and his administration with demeaning words, let’s pray for them, that the Lord would open their eyes.

It’s high time we (the church) awake out of sleep, as the apostle Paul puts it in Romans 13:11. Just doing our best is a sad outlook on life, and then expecting God to clean up our mess. Putting God first in all areas of life will always have a successful outcome.

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” Jesus, Luke 9:23

That church sign I saw spoke volumes. It informs God who’s really in charge, and even in a lot of churches, it’s not Him. Jesus said, “Without me, ye can do nothing”, John 15:5 It’s high time that America as a whole wakes up, repents, and calls upon God.

He’s waiting.
