Warren led Girard by five points after three quarters, but a 25-13 Girard fourth led to a 57-50 nonregion win over the Dragons on Friday at Warren Area High School.
Kenny Godoy scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter and the Yellowjackets quickly turned a deficit into a lead. Zach Kelley and Tyler Mayes added 3-pointers and the Dragons missed a couple treys down the stretch that would have cut the lead.
Logan Crissey did score 9 of his team-high 16 points in the final quarter of Warren’s uphill climb.
“I’m not a big moral victory guy, but we learned a lot about ourselves tonight and we got better as a team,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine, whose Dragons are 1-1 after four weather postponements early in the season. “This is the type of game you want to play in December. It made both teams better.”
Chase Sitler and Leihden Wotorson had 5 points each in Warren’s 12-10 third quarter to up the Dragons’ lead to 37-32 entering the fourth.

“I thought we got a little tired in the second half and Godoy is as good as advertised, which is what we anticipated,” said Berdine.
Kelley was the only other player in double figures (15) for Girard — the District 10 Class 3A champion a season ago that joins four schools in 4A in 2024-25 that won a D10 title last year.
Wotorson finished with 10 points for Warren, Jacob McMeans 9, Sitler 8, and Lucas Thrift 7.
Earlier on Friday, Max Spiegel led 10 Dragons’ scorers with 10 points in a 42-37 junior varsity win.
