Another shutout
Warren boys soccer records another clean sheet in win over Bradford
Warren’s boys soccer team won its fourth straight contest by shutout on Wednesday night in a 4-0 Region 5 victory over Bradford at War Memorial Field.
Since a 3-2 overtime loss to Meadville on Sept. 4, the Dragons have defeated Oil City, Erie High, Titusville and Bradford by a combined 25-0.
“It was a great team win,” said Warren coach Steffen Blair, whose Dragons are 5-3 overall after starting the season 1-3. Warren is now 4-3 in the region.
“Trey (Carrington) was huge for us tonight,” said Blair. “He brings an energy and an edge that’s so valuable. He set the tone and the standard for the game.”
Carrington assisted two of Warren’s four goals and finished with a team-high 27 steals to turn possession.
“We stretched the field well and Jack (Chapman), Gabe (Dougherty), and Luc (Wilkins) gave their defense a lot to handle with good movement and combinations,” said Blair.
Chapman scored three goals, including the first two, and Casey Rich blasted a shot off the top bar and down into the net.
“Jack is building confidence in front of goal and that’s starting to show,” said Blair. “He’s only going to get better.”
Finn Ordiway and Dougherty also assisted goals, and Rich added 20 steals and Chase Sitler 18 in the shutout win.
Bradford is now 2-6 overall and 2-5 in the region.
