Warren blanks Franklin 10-0 in Region 5 action

Warren won its third straight boys soccer match via shutout Monday, this time 10-0 over visiting Region 5 opponent Franklin at War Memorial Field.
“The most important thing is we played our style every step of the way,” said Warren coach Steffen Blair, whose Dragons are 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the region. “The whole field was connected and the ball was moving quickly. This is an unselfish group that’s having fun out there, and that goes a long way. We wanted to get our wingers more involved in possession and I think Gavin (Rex) was the perfect example of that. He kept us balanced and picked out some great passes.”
Rex first found Quinn Norris with a perfect pass in front of the net, and the floodgates soon opened. Luc Wilkins and Jack Chapman scored twice each, and Rex, Timmy Giger, Dom Holmberg, Gabe Dougherty and Bryce Grolemund also scored goals.
Norris added two assists, and Wilkins, Finn Ordiway, Karson McCollough and Rex assisted goals.
“Brody (Alexander), Dom, Chase (Sitler), Jack Napolitan and Grady (Corey) made things easy for us in the back and stepped up anytime they were tested,” said Blair. “The energy and quality never dropped regardless of who was on the field.”
Sitler, Holmberg and Ordiway had 10 steals apiece.
