Two Eisenhower track records fall
CORRY — The Eisenhower track teams split with nonregion Corry on Tuesday, with the Knights boys winning 92-58 and the girls losing 95.5-50.5.
Two new Eisenhower records were set in the boys meet. Junior Chase Myers broke Noah VanHouten’s 110-meter high hurdles record of 15.01 which was set in 2016, with a time of 14.84 seconds Tuesday. Freshman Alex VanGelder broke Brad Ludwick’s longstanding record of 141 feet, 8.5 inches in the discus, which had stood since 1985, with a toss of 153 feet, 5 inches.
The Knights had strong efforts from several athletes. In addition to the 110-meter high hurdles, Myers won the 300-meter hurdles and the high jump. Ethan Beers placed first in the triple jump and long jump.
Other first-place finishers for the boys were: Parker McBride, Alex Lund, Joey Fanelli and Isaiah Reagle in the 3,200-meter relay (9:29.74); Gigliotti in the 1,600 meters (4:39.14); Gigliotti in the 3,200 meters (10:05.64); Gigliotti, Reagle, Bryceton Wilkins and Easton Fitzgerald in the 1,600-meter relay (3:45.64); Easton Fitzgerald in the 200 meters (23.44); and Keaton Destro in the pole vault (9-0).
First-place finishers for the girls were: Laney Belcher, Lainey Font, Sawyer Fields and Izzy Grosch in the 3,200-meter relay (13:28.64); Grosch in the 1,600 meters (6:21.74) and 800 meters (2:52.8); Belcher in the 400 meters (1:02.44); Rosalie Rondeau, Riley Robinault, Font and Belcher in the 1,600-meter relay (5:15.34); and Robinault in the high jump (4-7).
